Scientific Computing Outage Sun Nov 26 '06 6pm - Mon Nov 27 '06 10pm
On Sunday Nov. 26 beginning at 6:00pm maintenance of Scientific
Computing services will begin. This outage will continue through 10:00pm
Monday Nov. 27. All Offline Scientific Computing Services will be
unavailable during this maintenance period, including /work and /cache
file systems, Auger and the batch compute farm, the IFARM systems
(IFARML1,2,3,S1), and JASMine (the data silo and mass storage system).
In preparation for central computing maintenance on Sunday evening, farm
jobs will stop being dispatched at 5pm on Friday Nov. 24 to provide time
for running jobs to complete. All pending jobs will be preserved. The
batch farm will stop accepting new submissions at 6pm Sunday Nov. 26.
During this maintenance period /work areas located on old hardware will
be re-located to new systems. All links from /work will be updated to
reflect the new locations of these work areas and NIS maps will be
updated and distributed to central systems and Level 1 and 2 desktops.
Any desktop system that is not centrally managed and does not use
centrally provided NIS and mount these areas will need to be updated
manually by the owner of the system:
