All Scientific Computing systems were brought back up before leaving
last night; we are now in the process of restoring all services for the
JASMine storage system, Auger compute farm and IFARML interactive systems.
We expect scientific computing to return to normal operation today.
The Computer Center experienced an unexpected complete power outage this
evening ~6pm during the scheduled maintenance period; we are in the
process of recovering all systems and services.
Some scientific computing services will not be available until Wednesday.
Regularly scheduled Scientific Computing maintenance is scheduled for
Tuesday, September 16 beginning at 5pm:
The Auger/LSF RedHat Enterprise Linux 3 batch farm will be
decommissioned. IFARML1/2 and the LSF/RHEL3 batch farm will be retired;
the final 1/3 of the farm nodes will move to the Auger/PBS Fedora 8
environment.
Additionally, almost all batch farm nodes will be shut down so that
power circuits can be installed for JLab's new border router. Farm
systems will return to full service Wednesday morning.
