Abstract for DNP 2008 (possible submission)

Hello,
Below you can find the abstract for APS DNP 2008. It is not certain but there
is a possibility that I may go there. I wanted to present the abstract to you
in any case if I decide to submit.
Ghost script file is attached. Main body is also written in text format below
for your convenience.
Best Regards,
Nevzat Guler.

Spin Structure of the Deuteron and the Neutron - New Results from CLAS}
The spin structure of the nucleon stays at the center of interest in todays
world of nuclear science. Quark and gluon distributions within the nucleon can
be explored best by examining their response to external probes, which are
mainly leptons or photons. The EG1B experiment, which was carried out at
Jefferson Lab using the CLAS detector, measured double polarization
asymmetries in the nucleon resonance region and above ( $1.08 GeV < W < 3.0
GeV$ ). We used a longitudinally polarized electron beam of various energies
incident on longitudinally polarized proton and deuteron targets. The large
kinematic coverage of the experiment ( $0.05 GeV^2 < Q^2 < 5.0 GeV^2$ ) will
help us to understand the spin structure of the nucleon especially in the
transition region between the hadronic degrees of freedom and the quark-gluon
degrees of freedom. The results from the experiment on $A_1$, $g_1$ and
$\Gamma_1$ with full statistics will be presented for the deuteron.
Preliminary results on the neutron spin structure functions derived from the
deuteron and the proton results will also be shown.
