September 24 Briefs Excerpts:

Records Management for Individuals
Any document that you create that could be considered evidence of our organization, functions, policies, decisions, procedures or operations is considered a "record." There are certain instances in which the records must be managed, which includes retention and disposal requirements. A new QA procedure describes how individuals at JLab manage the records they create or receive during their JLab activities. If you create a JLab record, you can read the procedure at: https://jlabdoc.jlab.org/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-19041

CEBAF Center Wings A&B Network Outage
The network in CEBAF Center wings A&B will be unavaliable for several hours on Monday evening, Sept. 29 starting at 5 p.m. The network switches are being upgraded to support automatic VLan assignment. Please visit http://reggie.jlab.org to ensure that your machine(s) are registered. If you are still offline on Tuesday, Sept. 30, contact the HelpDesk at x7155.

JLab Computer Purchasing Policy
JLab is committed to reducing its energy consumption and purchasing more environmentally friendly products. To help achieve these goals, all new computer purchases must meet the minimum requirements of the Silver tier rating of the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool. During the coming month, JLab's CNI group will publish a standardized list of computing systems for lab personnel that meet the requirements defined by EPEAT for Silver tier systems. A purchasing policy will be released October 1 that further explains how this program will be implemented in the future. More information is also available in the full brief.
