Dear Colleagues,
As you are aware of, the Hall B systems and safety review was held
Thursday and Friday this week. The entire CLAS12 system with the
exception of the magnets and the SVT detector was reviewed by 4 expert
rewiewers. The review is a major step towards the July 22-24 DOE
mandated "Lehman review" and towards CD-3 construction approval. Ten
people presented 12 talks (Latifa Elouadrhri, Volker Burkert, Mac
Mestayer, Stepan Stepanyan, Dan Carman, Vitaly Baturin, Dave Kashy,
Serguei Boiarinov, Maurizio Ungaro, Sebastien Procureur). I am very
happy to report that the review went extremely well for us. There were
no recommendation or comments from the committee. The collaboration was
commended for the excellent preparation of the presentation and the high
quality work on CLAS12. Especially our younger members of the
CLAS/CLAS12 collaboration, Maurizio Ungaro (UConn) and Sebastien
Procureur (Saclay), were specifically mentioned as having presented
impressive progress on state-of-the art simulation and event
reconstruction for CLAS12. This outcome puts us in a very strong
position going into the summer CD-3 reviews!
Best regards,
Volker
