Dear Reinhard,
I have looked over the proposed changes to the CLAS charter. I would
like to suggest a modification to the proposed revision of authorship
bylaw so that the "opt-in" rule includes an option for Institution
Representatives to "opt-in" their members.
* language from your slides:
"The rules of elegibility for co-authorship on CLAS Collaboration
publications are given in Charter Section XI.B. Names will appear on an
author list on an “opt-in” basis, meaning that each individual eligible
member must assert his or her wish to be a co-author according to the
following procedure."
****************Proposed changes to the proposal:
The rules of eligibility for co-authorship on CLAS Collaboration
publications are given in Charter Section XI.B. Names will appear on an
author list on an “opt-in” basis based on an individual's or
institution's preference. According to the following procedure, each
individual eligible member must assert his or her wish to be a
co-author, or an institution representative can assert the institution's
wish to list its eligible members as co-authors.
*******
// This now requires modification to the web-based opt-in procedures
(part 7c&d) to include an institution mechanism.
Yours truly,
Paul Eugenio
