Notes from 080800 meeting:

**********************
Examined IOC loading plots and determined that almost all the iocs
need to be upgraded:

Injector - 4 iocs
RF - 10 iocs
arcs - 12 iocs
misc - 5 iocs (mc1, mc2, nl3, sl3, sb4)

Karen will put in a budjet request for 32 PowePCs for upgrades, test
stands, and spares.

**********************
Status of PowerPC converstion items:

1. CAMAC - has been tested but:
	* Needs testing with recompiled driver (driver recompiled to
	  eliminate EPICS dependencies).
	* Dual IOC CAMAC needs testing.
	* George wants to more testing on the iochpts2 test stand.

2. Serial -
	* Serial communication via the transition module has been
tested and works without requiring changes to the code.
	* Serial communication via the IP Carrier/Octal UART needs to
	  be tested.
	* The new serial system needs to be tested.

3. GPIB - Pam is in the process of testing this using the bpm1nA
application.

4. New Magnet code - Scott will set up a test stand with a PowerPC as
the EPICS ioc and the mv162/167 as the data acquisition ioc and verify
that the global communication between the 2 works.

5. cmlog - someone (probably on the System team) needs to coordinate
with Jie Chen to get cmlog compiled for the PowerPC.

6. iocsb4 uses a different Vxworks kernel for setting some serial
parameters - someone (Matt?) needs to determine how to do this for the
PowerPC.

**********************
Injector Conversion effort:

in1, in2, and in6 are most in need of upgrading. in3, in4, and in5 are
all relatively lightly loaded.

iocpl1 has been upgraded to r313c3 but not r3132j0 (PowerPC).

The POD feels that we may be ready to tackle in2 since it has CAMAC
and tranisition module style serial on it. We decided to shoot for the
September Maintenance (end of Sept.) for this. The only show stopper I
can see would be cmlog. This probably needs to be upgraded before we
can upgrade in2.

George (with assistance from Scott) will coordinate the in2
upgrade. They need to cooridnate with AES to make sure all the needed
hardware is available and to work out a solid rollback plan. They can
use Richard's see testplan as a model. They should also be able to
pull information from r313 upgrade test plans for checking out the
applications on iocin2.

SEE BPM upgrades:

se4, se7, and se12 could probably be upgraded now. Richard will
coordinate these upgrades.
