Hey, look what I found in my 'postponed messages' directory!
oops, sorry...
Attendees: Bogdan, Eugene, Ting, Mike, Alexandre, Albert, Dmitri, Guy,
Sarah
We have two undergrads helping is for the summer: Guy Ron from the Univ.
of Tel Aviv and Sarah David from W. VA University.
Bogdan-
-Vladimir Popov is troubleshooting the problem with the modified VD-109
voltage dividers (bases).
-He has found on all those which have failed, that there is a bad
capacitor which will need to be replaced PMT's: One PMT was found without
an internal connection that was present in the standard design. With the
modified VD-109 bases, this type of PMT will not work. so far there was
only one like this, so we should not have a significant problem.
-MWPC mount: designer is finished, and it has been submitted for
production.
-Laser (GMS) design: as Eugine told GMS parts should be ready to submit
for production in 2-3 weeks.
-Position of Right HRS: it should be moved to the angle 120
deg to clear magnet support but it is not enough because there it would
prevent hall access from the truck ramp. For safety reasons, two means of
egress are required, so some items will have to be moved in order to be
able to go beyond 120 degrees. This is an issue for Hall A personnel and
not RCS collaboration, but it's something we need to bring to their
attention as it will require some significant moving of materials.
Much of this can be done in the September shutdown.
-Thanks Alex and Tavi the Dataspy for the MWPC is working
-progress regarding MWPC threshholds: no BIG noise up to 64mV, but
it's ~5% of the counts. We need to find out where such noise is coming
from.
Ting-
-Gave run-through of talk outline for Hall A Users Group meeting
-see him for details
Albert-
-working on calorimeter enclosure
-will install cables on platform next week
-vertical veto detector is on the platform
- tvelve of the lead-glass flanges were found to have become unglued.
Regular checks will be done.
Dmitri-
-working on troubleshooting of bad horizontal detectors. Some were
found to have bad PMT's (why? this is many more than in the vertical)
All PMT's are glued to spare detectors, and all spare horizontals are
used, so we can't complete the horizontal detector until we receive more
PMT's. As with the vertical detector, some of the low-signal detector
problems were fixed by regluing the fiber optic cables. (Note from Mike:
given the unexpected problems with PMT's, bases, and fiber optic
connections, I really think we will need to do an entire test of all
detectors shortly before the experiment. We should also make up several
more spare detectors with the PMT's that were ordered by Bogdan. We have
several spare pieces of lucite with which to do this.)
Eugene-
-we need to determine method to couple the veto's 1mm fiber optic cables
to Eugene's 3mm cables.
Physics talk - Bogdan about polarization observable from ep -> pi0 p.
