[Fwd: minutes, software meeting

from Paul

Minutes, Primex Software Meeting 6/1, convened by Mark Ito
         ("recorded" by Paul Kingsberry)

----------------------------------------------------------

1) Use Root v. 4.0 or higher.

      ifarml2, ifarml3 updated (also to Red Hat Enterprise 3)-
      but not ifarml1, ifarms1.

      Mark will ask Bob Michaels to build.

2) Primex databases:

      a) on-line run parameters (original)

      b) NEW! primex_connections (wiring schemes - still in (a),
                                  but fast becoming outdated).

            Only referenced by 2 fixed routines:

              src/libraries/codeIO/translation.cc

              src/libraries/tagger/tagger_brun.cc.

            Yet to be tested.

3) Complete build of on-line software, rel-2-10, on clon cluster (Mark).

4) Bug in use of root-server facility fixed (Dave Lawrence).

5) Key contacts for modification of individual on-line detector routines
   identified (for additional histo bookings, etc).

6) Log book for, eg., trigger-latch data, on web.

   (These are also documentation issues.)

7) Vasily will look at time-effectiveness of updating C detector
   routines in his own directories to C++ for integration of trigger
   modifications, etc.

     (Defined pointer short-cut for trigger banks in global memory?)

8) Histo booking will not be changed for now - we'll just book
   everything we can possibly anticipate wanting, turn them off/on.

     Beyond that, information -> banks,
                  book and fill histos off-line.

                  Easier to redefine banks?

9) Mark, Vasily and Dave will look at globally coding event type.

Decision on checks for Root connection tabled for now:

          Root file opening;
          directories and histo booking;
          Root file writing to file;
          Root file closing.

NEXT WEEK: discussion of dry run, Itaru.
