Here are the minutes from the 7-26-2004 meeting.
The information below is meant to be factual but may have been
misinterpreted by the minute taker's sloppy notes.
Those present - M. wood, M. Ito, D. Lawrence, A. Gasparian, E. Clinton, S.
Danagoulian, I. Nakagawa, R. Demirchyan, P. Kingsberry, D. McNulty, A.
Teymurazyan, A. Ahmidouch, V. Mochalov
1) Itaru reported on the Dry Run III. Three programs were tested
a) hycal_monitor : author is Dustin. Successes were histograms showing
the pedestals, LMS, and entire range of ADC channels. Item to be fixed
were 2D histograms with too high resolution.
Vasily - set histogram bin number to a smaller value (50 or 100 bins).
Dave - is the network a bottleneck?
Mark - the test was on primexdaq2 without transmitting info over the
network. Maybe we need the help from a ROOT expert
Dave also brought up the issue if hycal_monitor will replace hycal_calib.
The plan is yes, but the option to split the program into separate codes
for the experiment is still viable.
b) veto_calib - author is Eric. Tested on simulation not cosmic data.
No major problems running the code. It also has 2D histograms with too
many bins. The total number of bins should be reduced.
c) PrimexMon.tcl - author Mike. This script is a GUI to start the monitor
programs and check if any of them have died. During the Dry Run, the
users did not have access to the GUI while the monitors were being
checked. This has been fixed.
Mark's general comments about the Dry Run:
- more preparation was needed
- suggest we have weekly Dry Runs from now on. After the future software
meetings, we stay and test the software.
It was commented that the alarm message server should have been tested.
Aram said that his program to send message to the alarm handler by the
command line is complete. The GUI will be finished when he adds threads
capabilities to keep the GUI active while it is collecting messages.
2) Trigger issues -
Dustin asked that the trigger phase be added to the data files.
Dave - we should add the phase id for each event in the file.
3) Event viewer - Ashot asked that the event viewer be revived before the
experiment.
4) Hycal transporter GUI - Abdellah showed his transporter GUI for the
hycal calibration. The GUI is very easy to use with clear instructions.
The scheme for the calibration is to have the motors spin continuously
while the beam scans each element of the detector.
Vasily - the scheme should be to move to an element, stop the motors, take
data, and move to the next element.
Abdellah - his scheme was what was decided at the last collaboration
meeting. He can create Vasily's plan, but Vasily needs to supply a
detailed plan.
Mark brought up the issue that the crystals inside hycal need to be
surveyed with respect to the box in addiiton to the surveying of the box
to the beamline.
