Users Group Workshop and Annual Meeting

"The Expanding Physics of Jefferson Lab"
June 12-14, 2006
Jefferson Lab, Newport News, VA

Circular

The 2006 JLab Users Group Annual Meeting will take place on Monday June 12th through Wednesday June 14th. All Users are cordially invited to attend. Please reserve these dates and plan to attend.

We have a particularly nice program planned, including, as you probably already know, David Gross. Many of our speakers will address topics that are relevant to the connections between the physics that we study at JLab and the rest of the scientific community. There will also be sessions covering various issues that are of great importance to JLab Users. Your participation is important, and we strongly encourage everyone to register now, and make your plans to attend!

We particularly encourage graduate students to attend the annual meeting, and this year we will be continuing our new tradition of having a poster competition with a first prize of $1000, a 2nd prize of $500, and a third prize of $250. The registration fee for the Annual Meeting is waived for all those students participating in the poster competition. Note also that we have extended the deadline for abstracts until Wednesday May 31st. More information on the poster competition can be found through the link given above.

With the upcoming NSAC long range planning exercise, the transition to 12 GeV, the new JSA management contract, and continuing funding issues, our community is facing many substantive issues. The Annual Users Group Meeting plays a central role in maintaining the coherence and effectiveness of our community. We have worked hard to put together a great meeting, and we very much hope to see you there!
