New Employee Orientation

Agenda for your first day

8:00 Arrive in VARC (bldg 28) Lobby; met by Supervisor and Employment Consultant
8:15 Employment Consultant passes out welcome packets and escorts new hire to VARC classroom
8:20 Welcome by member of senior management
8:30 Employment Consultant explains packet contents
8:35 Training Consultant conducts interactive demonstration of how to log in to the JLab domain, open JLab Insight, update The Employee Self Service (ESS) system, use Timesheet, and take mandatory online training.
9:45 Training begins
  • SAF100 ES&H Orientation (45 min)
  • SAF127 Awareness (20 min)
  • GEN034 Security Awareness (30 min)
  • Read and certify knowledge documents (10 min)
11:30 Employment Consultant escorts new hires to badging office for JLab security badge
11:45 Return to classroom, release for lunch
1:00 Reconvene in
1:05 Presentation on JLab's policies and unique culture Supervisors return and pick up new hires
2:15 Benefits Orientation (foreign nationals excused; return in the morning)
3:15 Benefits Consultant collects signed forms
3:30 Supervisors arrive and escort new employees back to work areas
3:45 Personalized orientation to work areas, set up email and calendar accounts, etc.

 

Within 30 days          Complimentary breakfast with month's new hires  

  7 days later              HR Consultant emails new hire for feedback

  90 days later            HR Consultant calls new hire to check on progress
