The Jefferson Lab Hall A Polarized ^3He Target

Session UB04 - Instrumentation for Nuclear Physics I.
ORAL session, Thursday morning, March 25
    Room 204E, GWCC

Steffen Jensen (CalTech), E94010 Hall A Jefferson Lab Collaboration

Jefferson Lab experiment E94010, which measures the neutron spin structure and the connection between GDH and Bjorken Sum Rules, uses a polarized ^3He target. Future experiments at Jlab will also use this target to study the structure of the neutron and ^3He. The presentation includes principle of spin exchange for polarizing the ^3He, the diode laser system and polarimetry methods (EPR and NMR). Also included will be a presentation of the target performance. This project is supported in part by The Department of Energy and the National Science Fondation.
