Study of Quasi-Free Hyperon Production with the A(e,e^\primeK^+) Reaction.

Session OB12 - Photoproduction and Electroproduction of Mesons.
ORAL session, Wednesday morning, March 24
    Room 219E, GWCC
    Wendy Hinton (Hampton University)

Experiments E91-16 and E93-18 measured electroproduction of kaons off liquid hydrogen and deuterium targets. During these experiments a feasibility study of hypernuclear spectroscopy was performed using the ^12C(e,e^\primeK^+) reaction. The ^27Al(e,e^\primeK^+) reaction from the endcap of the hydrogen and deuterium targets were also analyzed.

The kaons and electrons were detected in the Hall C Short Orbit Spectrometer and High Momentum Spectrometer at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab).

The quasi-free hyperon production for these targets were analyzed. Preliminary results of the Q^2 and t dependence as a function of A will be presented.
