The JLab detector is now at the University of Virginia Medical School where it is undergoing tests under the supervision of Dr. Mark Williams, a medical physicist. Dr. David Teats and Dr. Jayashree Parekh of the UVA Radialogy Department are hoping to use the JLab detector in conjunction with a triple head SPECT camera during a patient study they are conducting. The patient study is concerned with evaluating the usefulness of the nuclear medicine techique of scintimammography.
Dr. Jayashree Parekh, a radiologist at the University of Virginia Medical Center is examining the JLab scintimammography detector. This is the white cylindrical object attached to its black gantry arm. In a second photo, Dr. Stan Majewski, a detector physist and the head of the JLab Detector Group, is testing the positioning of the JLab Detector.
