Mr. Turi is Manager of the Department of Energy's Site Office at the Jefferson Lab where he is the senior on-site Department representative. As Site Office Manager, Jim directs day-to-day office activities. The Office negotiates and administers the contract for operation of the laboratory; and provides technical and administrative direction, enabling support, oversight, and evaluation. Additionally, the Office represents the Department with regulators and stakeholders; and serves as the Laboratory's advocate within the Department and with others.

Mr. Turi began his federal career in 1968 with the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. He has held a variety of positions involving research and development, engineering and construction, facility operations, and environmental cleanup. His program experience spans nuclear and magnetic fusion energy to environmental management to the deployment of radioisotope thermoelectric generators for the NASA Galileo and Ulysses missions.

Jim joined the Office of Science in 2000 as Associate Director for Laboratory Operations and Environment, Safety and Health in Science's Germantown, Maryland office. He also served as Office of Science's acting Deputy Director for Operations and acting Chief of Staff. Jim's most recent experience before joining the JLab Site Office was Acting Manager of the Oak Ridge Operations Office. Previous DOE assignments included the Office of Environmental Management and the Office of Nuclear Energy, and their predecessor organizations.

Jim holds a Master's in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Bachelor's of Science in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Massachusetts (Lowell), and is a registered Professional Engineer (nuclear engineering).
