Speaker: Igor Klebanov (Princeton University) Title: AdS/CFT and Beyond Abstract: D-branes and their gravitational properties are used to motivate the AdS/CFT correspondence which relates string theory in Anti-de Sitter space to a certain supersymmetric gauge theory. New tests of the correspondence, based on dimensions of high-spin operators, are reviewed. We also discuss applications of the correspondence to thermal gauge theory which involve black holes. Finally, we outline extensions of the gauge/string duality to gauge theories that exhibit color confinement.
