Speaker: Vladimir Pascalutsa (ECT) Title: Chaos in the hadron spectrum Abstract: I will show that the low-energy hadron spectrum exhibits some universal statistical properties. In particular, the nearest-neighbor mass-spacing distribution is described by the Wigner surmise corresponding to the statistics of the Gaussian orthogonal ensemble of random matrix theory. These properties of the spectrum are common to quantum systems with essentially chaotic dynamics. It is interesting to see how or whether such statistical properties emerge from quark models and lattice QCD calculations.
