Speaker: Christopher Thomas (Jefferson Lab) Title: Is X(3872) a molecule? Abstract: The nature of the enigmatic charmonium-like meson $X(3872)$, which appears near the $D0 D^{*0}$ threshold, has been the subject of intense debate ever since its discovery. It has been suggested that it could be a molecular state bound by $\pi$ exchange and/or quark exchange. However, more recently it has been argued that $\pi$ exchange is not strong enough to form such a state. I present a more complete analysis of the $\pi$ exchange interaction, expose inconsistencies in the literature and highlight how the conclusions depend on model inputs. Further, I explore consequences for the $B \bar{B}^*$ and flavour exotic analogues.
