Title: The discovery of color; a personal perspective

Abstract:
I will review the developments in particle physics prior to the 
discovery of color, the influences on me that led to my suggestion
of color as a charge carried by quarks, and the gauging of color 
that led to the strong interaction, quantum chromodynamics.
