Abstract: I will discuss how one can study the properties of hadron resonances, including their decays into lighter hadrons and their coupling to external currents, directly from QCD. I will describe the relationship between hadron scattering amplitudes and the spectrum of eigenstates of QCD in a finite spatial box, and will illustrate this using results of lattice calculations for the scattering of pions. Prospects for future calculations of resonances in coupled-channels and for radiative matrix elements featuring excited hadron resonances will be presented.
