Director's Safety Council
Charter:
The purpose of the Director's Safety Council is to review the structure and performance of Environmental, Safety, Health and Quality (ESH&Q) related efforts at Jefferson Lab (JLab), thereby ensuring senior line management attention to, and action to resolve, ESH&Q related items.
This Council is an integral part of JLab's commitment to safety and quality as defined by the Lab's Integrated Safety Management (ISM) and Quality Assurance (QA) programs.
The Council is established by the Laboratory Director, and the Director has designated the following members:
- Director
- Chief Operating Officer
- Chief Scientist
- Chief Financial Officer
- Chief Information Officer
- Associate Director, Accelerator
- Associate Director, Experimental Nuclear Physics
- Associate Director, Free Electron Laser
- Associate Director, 12 GeV Project
- Associate Director, ESH&Q
- Human Resources Manager
- PM and Integration Manager
- Engineering Manager
- Facilities and Logistics Manager
- Worker Safety Committee Chairperson
The Council will meet no less frequently than quarterly. Meetings will be chaired by the AD, ESH&Q.
The Council has the following roles and responsibilities:
- Monitor ESH&Q performance measures of laboratory
- ESH&Q will present the results of analysis of ESH&Q data collected across the lab. Trends will be discussed and actions identified and tracked
- ESH&Q will present the status of contractual performance measures. Actions will be identified and tracked
- Review significant work and safety management issues; these issues may be selected by the Council or may include items requested by Laboratory committees, departments, or other organizations.
- Review status of corrective action taken in response to significant events or assessment
