Environmental Executive Orders

 

 

1.0            Description

 

EO 11514

Protection and Enhancement of Environmental Quality: the Federal government provides leadership in protecting and enhancing the environment’s quality in order to sustain and enrich human life.

 

EO 11988

Floodplain Management:  to minimize the impact of floods on human safety, health, or welfare; to reduce the risk of flood loss; and to restore and preserve the natural value of the floodplain.

 

EO 11990

Protection of Wetlands:  to minimize the destruction, loss, or degradation of wetlands, and to preserve and enhance the natural and beneficial value of wetlands.

 

EO 12088

Federal Compliance with Pollution Control Standards:  Federal facilities are responsible for ensuring that all necessary actions are taken for the prevention, control, and abatement of environmental pollution.  Sections 1-4 are revoked by EO 13148.

 

EO 13101

Greening the Government through Waste Prevention, Recycling, and Federal Acquisition:  incorporate Government-wide waste prevention and recycling practices and work to expand the awareness for purchasing products containing post-consumer materials.

 

EO 13123

Greening the Government through Efficient Energy Management:  the Federal Government is to significantly improve energy management to save dollars and reduce emissions that contribute to air pollution and global climate changes.

 

EO 13148

Greening the Government through Leadership in Environmental Management:  Federal agencies are responsible for integrating environmental accountability into day-to-day decision-making and long-term planning processes, activities, and functions.
