Jefferson Lab Pressure Systems Committee (PSC)
Charter:
The purpose of the Pressure Systems Committee (PSC) is to review, structure and provide Environmental, Safety, Health and Quality (ESH&Q) performance guidance related to pressure systems thereby ensuring compliance with 10 Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) 851 Workers Safety and Health Program, Subpart C 851.205 Pressure retaining component safety.
This committee is an integral part of Jefferson Lab's commitment to safety and quality as defined by the Lab's Integrated Safety Management (ISM) and Quality Assurance (QA) programs.
The committee has the following roles and responsibilities:
- Recommend requirements, standards, and procedures for systems designed to use, confine or distribute pressure media.
- Be the final lab authority for approval of written deviation requests from the established pressure systems program.
- Document decisions and variances considered by the committee.
- Review and recommend updates to the pressure system specific training for the lab's staff. In this role, work with the lab's ESH&Q training committee to determine the content of such training.
- As appropriate, organize seminars for Design Authorities to communicate pressure systems related lessons learned gathered from experiences within the lab.
- Brief the Directors Safety Council committee periodically or as required.
