Mechanical Engineering Group Support - The Process

Starting the Drawing Process
PROCESS BY WHO
project developed Engineer, Scientist, etc.
generates required drawing layouts, assembly, & details Designer
determines how many drawings are needed for the project Designer
retrieves block of drawing numbers from dwg.txt directory Designer

 

Bond Check Print Process
PROCESS BY WHO
electronic drawing file(s) in their home directory Designer
red line(s) bond check print Project Engineer, Scientist, Manager, etc.
prints bond check print until final check has been made Designer
prints vellum final print Designer

 

Vellum Final Print Process
PROCESS BY WHO
gets signatures of the released dwg(s) Designer

Check-By Block Signature Designer, etc (CAN NOT BE SAME as Drawn-By)
Approval Block Signature Engineer, Scientist, Project Leader, etc.

Signatures TWO DIFFERENT Approval in title block area
Signature/Initials TWO DIFFERENT Approval in revision block area
Signed Vellum(s) MUST be returned to the Designer

 

Home Directory to Holding Directory
PROCESS BY WHO
receives signed off vellum drawing(s) Designer
pulls up electronic drawing file in his home directory Designer
types in signatures of signed released dash drawing(s) Designer
types in signatures/initials of signed released revised drawing(s) Designer
moves signed, electronic drawing file(s) to holding directory Designer
turns signed, vellum drawing(s) into DCG with attached turn-in form Designer

Document Control Released Drawing Turn-In & The Archive Process
DCG CHECKS ME10_holding directory
  • turned in drawing(s) not in holding directory will be "REJECTED"
  • turned in drawing(s) without typed in signatures will be "REJECTED"
DCG DRAWING QC PROCESS
  • Discrepancy: basic changes may be made by hand i.e. transposed number, correct revision etc.
  • Discrepancy: technical content changes must be made by generating an ECO or a new revision level
  • Designer must initial and date all hand changes
  • Initialed/dated hand change confirms that the Designer has changed the electronic drawing file
  • Designer notifies DCG that hand changes have been corrected to the electronic drawing file
DCG RE-CHECKS ME10_holding directory
  • if electronic drawing changes have not been made, those turn-in drawing(s) will be "REJECTED"
  • DCG moves checked/confirmed electronic drawing file(s) to archive directory
  • DCG deletes ME10_holding directory file & completes drawing log-in process
Drawing Turn-In & Distribution Form
COPY DISTRIBUTION GUIDELINES
  • Designer highlights/circles required copy distribution names
  • automatic distribution; all highlighted/circled names will receive a "B" size folded copy
  • automatic distribution; drawn-by & last approval block will receive a "B" size folded copy
  • automatic distribution; Will Oren receives a copy of all "Top Assy" drawings, "C" size folded
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS AREA
  • Designer notes i.e. stamping, binding edge copy, special needs, etc.
