Why ESnet is Vital to DOE

As an agency that is at the core of fostering and funding research in the United States, DOE finds it imperative to implement technology that: Enhances the rapidity at which the research culminates; Broadens the community that participate4s in the research; Makes efficient use of the experimental facilities; and Stretches the funding to maximum benefit. Computer networking is a proven technology paradigm that accomplishes these goals, and ESnet is paramount in the world as a network that supports researchers. The Department of Energy is therefore extremely fortunate to have an ingredient that is essential for successfully achieving the Departmental mission in the next decade.
