Experiment Scheduling Process Footnotes

  1. The spokespersons for Hall B experiments running together as a group (e1, e2, e3, etc.; and g1, g2, g3, etc.) should appoint a run coordinator who will act as the sole spokesperson for the group for all activities discussed in this document. From the point of view of scheduling and also for the interactions of the experiments in a common run cycle with Accelerator Operations, these grouped experiments will be treated as a single experiment with the run coordinator as the single point of contact. Management of the decision-making process within the hall B collaboration participating in the run group is the responsibility of the run coordinator and the hall B manager.
  2. Following the adoption of the PAC recommendations by the director, the Physics Division TAP will meet and identify those experiments that will require major installation effort. Any experiment so identified must have completed a formal readiness review prior to March or September 1 to be considered for the corresponding scheduling cycle. JLab prefers to schedule these experiments a year in advance and will generally try to schedule the beginning of their installation phase coincident with the summer or winter shutdown. Spokespersons for these experiments are encouraged to request their readiness review with this lead time in mind.
  3. A completed "Radiation Budget Estimate" (a critical part of the experiment's radiation safety assessment document) must be available to the Scheduling Committee for any experiment desiring to be scheduled. This estimate is produced by P. Degtiarenko of the Radcon group; spokespersons must provide him with their updated beam requirements lists (see the PAC proposal forms) andother information about the experimental conditions as needed for these estimates. A minimum of one month lead time is necessary for the production of the radiation budget estimate.
