102.02 Accident and Incident Procedures

Any event which results in personal injury, significant material damage, or response from municipal emergency units is cause for notifying the EH&S Reporting Manager, who will alert the Director's Office and particularly the Public Affairs Officer.

The primary responsibility of JSA/JLab personnel following an accident or incident at the site is to ensure the safety of human life and minimize damage to property. Once these responsibilities have been met, it is essential to preserve JSA/JLab's ability to communicate to the public on its own behalf by making sure the factual information is communicated properly to the EH&S Reporting Manager.

The EH&S Reporting Manager classifies and reports unusual events to the Department of Energy in accordance with specific DOE guidelines.
