207.11 Vacation Purchase Program

  1. POLICY

    JSA Employees, with less than two (2) years of service on January 1st of the fiscal year in which the program is offered, may purchase up to 40 hours of additional annual leave to be used within the same fiscal year.

  2. ELIGIBILITY
    • Only employees who currently accrue vacation time are eligible for the purchase of additional time.
    • Years of service must be two (2) years or less as of January 1st of the fiscal year in which the purchase is made.
  3. PROGRAM PROVISIONS
    1. The purchased annual leave must be used within the fiscal year it is purchased.
    2. Purchased leave cannot be used until it is paid in full via payroll deduction.
    3. Purchased leave deductions start in January of the fiscal year that the leave is purchased and end by May 1st of the fiscal year.
    4. The Employee's current hourly rate (at the time the program is offered) is used to calculate the total value.
    5. Purchased leave can only be used May through September 30th of the fiscal year in which it is purchased
    6. Once purchase vacation leave is available for use, then it must be used before regular vacation leave.
    7. If any portion of the purchased annual leave is not used by the end of the fiscal year, the funds for the unused purchased annual leave will be returned to the Employee at the original hourly rate at which purchased times the remaining hours.
