Building 16: Pre-Fire Plan
----------------------

    Response Action:

    1. Make initial assessment of the situation.
    2. If warranted call 9-911 and report fire.
    3. Evacuate occupants.
    4. Report to assembly point

    Access:
There is a door at the end of each trailer. There are 13 trailers connected by a central hallway, which is the eqivalent of five trailers. There is a double door at the main entrance to the trailer complex.

    Exposure:
There is moderate exposure to the Support Service Center building to the north.

    Cautions:
    None

    Occupancy:
Administrative offices, computers, terminals, copy machines, drawing reproduction machines. The print room contains master copies of engineering drawings. About 90 people work in the trailer complex.

    Construction:
There are standard 24' x 60' trailers with wood framing, interior wood paneling, exterior wood siding, and sheet metal roofing. The underfloor area is protected by a sheet metal skirting, which may be partially removed for access.

    Fire Protection:
The trailer complex is protected by a sprinkler system. There are 24 dry powder fire extinguishers. There are smoke detectors in the lobby, the Project Management room (195), the telecommunications room (56), the print room (61), and most passageways. There are fire alarm pull stations in every trailer and a master alarm panel in the lobby. The alarm system is connected to the Support Service Center alarm system. The nearest fire hydrant is about 300 feet to the north on Hofstadter Road.

    Loss Potential:
Loss of this building would have serious impact on design and engineering drawing capability and create a serious shortage of office space. Microfiche backup copies of engineering drawings are kept in a safe in CEBAF center.
