Building 8: Pre-Fire Plan
----------------------

    Response Action:

    1. Make initial assessment of the situation.
    2. If warranted call 911 and report fire.
    3. Evacuate occupants.
    4. Report to assembly point

    Access:
There are two doors in the compressor room and three doors to the cold box room. In addition, there is a roll up door in each room.

    Exposure:
The CHL is sufficiently distant from other buildings that the spread of fire is not a threat.

    Cautions:
A minimal amount of flammable solvents and compressed gas cylinders (acetylene, oxygen, helium) are normally present. Space heating is electric.

    Occupancy:
The compressor room is seldomly occupied. An office and control council on the second floor of the cold box room can be occupied by up to eight employees.

    Construction:
The CHL is essentially two similar box shaped buildings sharing part of a common side. There is no internal passage from one side (compressor room) to the other side (cold box room). Construction is of the steel girders and steel siding. Insulation is fastened to the internal walls. The cold box room has about a 28 ft. deep concrete lined pit for the 4K cold box. The cold box room has roof access.

    Fire Protection:
The CHL is sprinkled throughout. Ten fire extinguishers are located throughout the facility.

    Loss Potential:
Loss of the CHL is a majopr setback to the accelerator project.
