Response Action:

1. Make initial assessment of the situation.
2. If warranted call 911 and report fire.
3. Evacuate occupants.
4. Report to assembly point

Access:
There are four front doors with air locks, four rear doors and five rear roll up doors. After hours, the front doors may be opened from the outside with keys and by deadbolts from the inside. The back doors can only be opened from the inside after hours, during work hours they are left unlocked. The roll up doors stay padlocked unless access is needed.

Exposure:
There are two flammable storage cabinets and one paint booth. One storage cabinet is located inside the room that houses the machine shop (front of building, center door). The other storage cabinet is located adjacent to the paint booth by the rear southwest door. These storage cabinets normally contain paints, thinners, solvents and lubricants.

Cautions:
Small quantaties of flammable solvents are present in the machine shop area as well as at work benches for fabrication purposes.

Occupancy:
There is a fabrication staff of 20.

Construction:
The Blue Crab Road Fabrication Facility building is a pre-fabricated metal building constructed on a concrete pad. There are four air conditioners mounted on a ceiling height, the three in the west side of the building also have natural gas heaters, the one on the east side is a heat pump.

Fire Protection:
There are six wall mounted fire extinguishers: one by the north west front door, one in the machine shop adjacent to the flammable storage locker, one next to the north east front door, one on the west wall center, one on the west wall south next to the flammable storage locker, and one on the east wall center.

The nearest fire hydrant is on Blue Crab Road approximately 100 meters from the north east corner of the building.

Blue Crab is equipped with an automatic fire and entry alarm system, ADT Focus (1-800-552-7913), and a fire sprinkler system. The heat and smoke sensors are armed 24 hours a day. The entry alarm sensors are key pad activated at the end of each work day. These alarms are audible and telephone line transmitted.

We now have three phone lines into this facility.

Loss Potential:
The Blue Crab Road Fabrication Facility is a well equipped fab shop for the production of components and cables to go into the accelerator. There is capiltal equipment (mills, lathes, etc.) as well as a large number of equipment racks at various stages of completion, electronic hand tools and work tools and work stations.
