Jefferson Lab Receptacle Review, Removal, and Replacement
In January of this year members of Jefferson Lab's Waste Minimization & Pollution Prevention Task Group began an initiative to make waste and recycling receptacles more consistent in relation to style and color across the Lab. You may have noticed that the receptacles in the hallways and common areas of your building are more uniform and consistent throughout. In an attempt to facilitate proper disposal, which can increase recycling efforts and thereby reduce wastes, Jennifer Allen and Carrie Nichols have been working hard to accomplish standardizing the types and numbers of receptacles used at CEBAF Center, Trailer City, the Support Service Center, and the Test Lab (thus far). Jennifer and Carrie will be coming to your building soon to help improve the situation. If you have any questions, or if you believe your area needs immediate attention, please contact Jennifer at jallen@jlab.org
- Receptacles for recyclable and trash collection: if you or your group need receptacles for trash collection or paper recycling in your area, contact Mike Lewellen (x7169) in Facilities Management for guidance on which containers to purchase for your particular need. Mike needs to verify receptacle types and sizes BEFORE purchase. Facilities Management & EH&S Reporting staff have prepared a list of standard receptacles for collection of particular wastes / recyclable items at Jefferson Lab.
- Office Paper Recycling: the standard containers for office paper recycling are the 5 to 13 gallon royal blue receptacles with the universal recycling triangle on them. These containers are for paper ONLY and are typically for office use rather than in copy or workrooms (with some exceptions). These containers can be purchased through the Stockroom (x7233). If you need a 'Paper Recycling' sticker, contact Jennifer Allen at x5075.
