Today is Earth Day (April 22)
Today is Earth Day, but we can make every day Earth Day by recycling. JLab, in conjuction with Tidewater Fibre Corp. (TFC), is making Lab-wide recycling easier than ever before. Everyone at JLab may now put all office recyclables into their blue, office recycling bins.
All of these items may co-mingle in the blue, office Recycling bins:
- Newspaper & Inserts; telephone books; magazines; junk mail; flattened corrugated cardboard boxes; cereal boxes; paper grocery bags; (dry, not food soiled)
- Glass jars & bottles – clear, brown, or green. (Please rinse and remove lids)
- Metal cans, aluminum cans & aluminum foil products. (Please rinse; remove all residue and sharp lids)
- Plastic bottles & jugs. (Must have a narrow neck or pouring spout. Must have #1 or #2 in the recycling symbol (usually on bottom of container). (Please rinse and remove lids)
It is important to only place acceptable recyclable items in your blue office bin for collection.
Unacceptable Items:
- Items coated with food and household trash are considered contaminants.
- Candy wrappers; Styrofoam food containers; plastic drinking cups.
These types of items are contaminants and actually increase the cost for processing.
If you currently don't have a blue recycling container in your office, please contact Mike Lewellen at x7169 or Facilities Management at x7400.
