EMS Audit Conducted in September
DOE and TJNAF conducted the first review of Jefferson Lab's Environmental Management System (EMS) from September 19-21. An assessment/audit report will be delivered to JLab by early October. Interviews with Lab employees during the assessment determined that there are individuals from across the campus and accelerator site who would like to become more involved in suggesting or making improvements to Jefferson Lab's environmental program.
EMS Audit Points include
- The EMS assessment concluded with favorable results
- The assessment noted two minor compliance items
- The EMS aspects identification process not being fully linked with measurable objectives and targets
- The EMS aspect identification process needs to be improved to ensure that all areas/processes are addressed from a site wide viewpoint
- Multiple opportunities for environmental improvement were identified during the assessment (some by the Lab assessors)
- TJSO will be allowed to close the issues from the 12/05 EMS review
- Document control (beyond the EMS) issues need management attention
