Fire Hydrants & PI Valves The drawings provided are for the Campus Area, Accelerator, and Experimental Areas indicate the locations of fire hydrants, post indicator (PI) valves, which isolate sprinkler systems, and underground piping that supplies city water to fire hydrants and sprinkler systems. Buildings are color coded on the drawings to indicate which ones contain cryogenic liquids such as helium and nitrogen, natural gas heating, other flammable gases in significant quantities, small quantities of radioactive material which should not delay fire fighting, and radioactive materials which should delay fire fighting until a radiological expert is present.
