Progress in furthering our understanding of the up and down sea asymmetry
is expected from measurements at DESY (HERMES) and Fermilab (E866). The
HERMES experiment will study semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering to
provide information on coincident and
production. The
ratio of
to
production is quite sensitive to the ratio of
to
.
A new experiment E866 at Fermilab will utilize the Drell-Yan process to
study the ratio over a wider range of
with 1%precision and with lesser precision up to
. This
experiment will provide an important test of the relation of
to the
measured sea quark distributions in this
range and hopefully constrain
nucleon models sufficiently to shed light on the origin of this interesting
asymmetry in the nucleon sea.
