    JLab Staff Registration:

In order to properly cover the costs of the upcoming User Meeting/12-GeV Workshop, we need to know in advance who on the staff will be attending the meeting and requesting that we pay their registration fee. We are happy to do so for anyone who will be participating seriously in the workshop.

All Physics and Accelerator Division staff members who plan to attend the meeting must register in advance. Under the "METHOD of PAYMENT" section on the registration form, please identify yourself as a Jlab Physics or Accelerator Division Staff member.

    Meeting Details

The annual meeting of the JLab Users Group will take place this year from Wednesday, June 21 to Friday, June 23. This year's meeting is particularly important. The e-mail you received around April 25 (http://www.jlab.org/news/archive/2000/long
    _range_plan.pdf)
gives the details of the process by which the 12-GeV white paper steering committee will proceed with our help to prepare for the new NSAC long-range plan to be launched this Fall.

This Users Meeting is a critical step in this process. It is the culmination of the series of User Workshops begun in 1994 and carried on intensely this Winter and Spring devoted to the 12-GeV upgrade. Almost the entire meeting will be devoted to presentations and extended discussions of the programs developed in these workshops in five different areas and by the Hall D Collaboration, and to the key experiments (or programs) that will drive the upgrade. From these presentations and from the discussions with users present at this meeting, the White Paper Steering Committee will choose the best for presentation to PAC18 in July. Beyond the workshops themselves, this meeting is the main opportunity for users to press their case with the Steering Committee. Please see the 12-GeV site http://www.jlab.org/div_dept/p hysics_division/GeV.html for more details.
