Hall C Leadership; a message from Larry Cardman

Jefferson Lab is pleased to announce that Dr. Stephen Wood has accepted the position of Hall C Leader. Steve received his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983 for research carried out at LAMPF. Since his Ph.D. he has held positions at Tel Aviv University, at the MIT-Bates laboratory, and at the University of Illinois.

He joined the Jefferson Lab as a Hall C staff scientist in 1990, and has participated in many of the major experiments that were mounted at the lab. As a Hall C staff scientist, he has played a lead role in the development and adaptation of the data acquisition software to a broad variety of complex new experimental setups.

Steve has been serving as Interim Hall Leader for the past year, replacing Rolf Ent who has taken responsibility for the science side of the 12 GeV project. The outstanding job Steve has done in managing the hall was an important factor in the decision to make his role as Hall Leader permanent. For the next few years Steve will be concentrating on completion of the Hall's remaining "6 GeV" experiments and preparing for the 12 GeV beams to come with the Upgrade and the SHMS spectrometer.
