Successful CD-3 Review for 12 GeV - a message from Ron Gilman
Dear 12 GeV Steering Committee Reps:
We wanted to share the good news regarding this week's major 12 GeV Upgrade review. The 25-member review panel concluded that the progress in the last year is "impressive", the designs are mature, and the project is ready to start Construction. The Detector subcommittee was particularly complimentary of the progress in R&D and PED, and noted that the detector prototyping is "well-advanced".
We must still successfully complete a follow-up Earned Value Management System (EVMS) review by the DOE OECM committee which is scheduled for August 12th and 13th. We hope this will be a straightforward check on the implementation of their recommendations. In the meantime, DOE-NP is already checking available dates to schedule the CD-3 Approval meeting with Dr. Orbach in early September.
None of this would be possible without the significant effort of our talented User community. On behalf of the project team, thank you! We will keep you posted as we proceed to CD-3.
