Posting of the revised DRAFT schedule for the remainder of 6 GeV running - a message from Larry Cardman
The DRAFT schedule for the remainder of 6 GeV running (between now and the final shutdown for the transition to 12 GeV) has been revised following the earlier (8/27/08) posting and comments received either before or at the 9/18/08 public discussion of that schedule. The revised DRAFT schedule has been posted on the JLab website at:http://www.jlab.org/div_dept/physics_division/experiments/schedule.html, in the section titled "Long Range Schedule."

The changes to the schedule are modest. They include:
- Insertion of a very short (one day) low-impact C3 experiment (E08-009), which will provide low p_miss data complementary to E07-006.
- Reduction of the running time for E08-008 to provide additional time needed to move the BigBite spectrometer to the position required for the E07-006 experiment that follows it.
- Extension of the HDIce run (E06-001) to account for the reduced polarization available due to the beam energy constraints necessary for Q_Weak running; this was done by starting the experiment commissioning earlier.
As noted earlier, we encourage all users to review the schedule and to discuss it with colleagues and JLab staff involved in its development. The second general public discussion of the schedule will take place at the January meeting of PAC34 - most likely on Thursday, January 29th . There will also be discussions at various hall weekly and collaboration meetings. Your comments and thoughts about the schedule between now and the PAC meeting are welcome. Any written comments we receive will be shared with the Scheduling Committee and included in the information the PAC receives about the schedule for their deliberations in January. To be included in the base information package sent to the PAC, such written comments should be received by Friday, December 5.
The formal charge to PAC34 is being developed now, and will be shared with you as part of the call for proposals that will be posted shortly. As has already been stated, the charge to the PAC will request its comments on the 6 GeV running plan, and the PAC meeting will include both public and executive sessions. Following the PAC meeting, the laboratory will issue a final DRAFT schedule that incorporates its response to that discussion and any further internal review deemed appropriate. An extended version of the earlier draft schedule release memo, which provides our plans for modifying the schedule as future budgets evolve as well as an outline of how the schedule was developed and a brief discussion of the "big picture" issues related to its realization, is still available at http://www.jlab.org/exp_prog/experiment_schedule/2008/09-25/footnotes2.pdf
These plans and issues will be presented again and discussed at the PAC34 meeting.
