This directory contains files used to produce the poster that will be/was shown at the Jefferson Lab Open house on April 21st, 2001. Some of the files are made in to print on letter size paper (8.5" x 11") and others on 11" x 17" paper. Printing to the larger paper (using cchp2 in this case) was very tricky so I'm documenting how it was done here. StarOffice: ------------- I had some problems getting StarOffice5.1 to produce usable output so use StarOffice5.2 In the Format:Page...:Page Tab, set the Paper format to "User". Set it to Portrait mode, and set the width to 17" and the height to 11". When you go to the "Print..." dialog, hit the "Properties" button next to the printer and make sure it is set to "Ledger" for paper size and "PORTRAIT" for orientation. You'll need tp print to a file since there is a special option that must be passed to the printer via "lp" (see below). Xfig: ------- The drawing should be turned sideways and placed in the center of the 11"(across) x 17"(down) square in the top left corner of the page. I when exporting, I selected the "tabloid" paper size and set it to "landscape" mode. Also, make sure to select "Flush left" instead of "Centered". Note that if it doesn't look right when displayed using the "Ledger" paper size in ghostview, it won't look right when printed. The CCHP2 printer has 11" x 17" paper in tray3. You must pass options to the printer which (as fas as I know) can only be done using lp. Thus, you have to print from something like jlabs1. The printer seems to ignore the -otray3 -olandscape and -oportrait options, so don't use them. The command you want to use is: lp -dcchp2 -oledger filename.ps
