Weekly Meeting Minutes, August 26, 2005

Present: Eric Clinton, Dan Dale (by phone), Mark Ito, Dustin McNulty, Aram Teymurazyan, Mike Wood

Review of Last Meeting's Minutes

We went over the minutes from 8/19/05. We noted a couple of points:

Review of Technical Meeting: Dustin McNulty

Dustin summarized the discussion at yesterday's technical meeting.

Timing: Total HyCal Sum vs. Tagger: Eric Clinton

Eric showed results of a study of the total HyCal sum timing. He showed a time spectrum relative to tagger hits. The resolution was about 3 or 4 ns, rms. He also presented multiplicity distributions for the tagger hits in various time windows centered around HyCal sum time (window sizes are full widths). The results showed promise for an analysis that depends only on the HyCal sum for HyCal timing information. We proposed the idea of a calibrated HyCal time, perhaps in a new bank.

Status of π0 Yield Analysis: Dustin McNulty

Dustin showed us his latest plots of π0 dn/dθ for carbon and lead targets, crystal only and crystal+glass. His code has been organized so that he can do the analysis under a variety of assumptions.

Monte Carlo Improvements: Mike Wood

Mike is in the process of adding more reality to the primsim simulation. His recent efforts have been focused on the beamline. Dan pointed out areas where he has noted deficiencies, among them the target, the helium bag and the magnetic field of the dipole. If folks have suggestions or ideas in this area, please contact Mike.

Improvements for Next Run: Dan Dale

Dan has posted his list of items and items from Dustin. It is linked from the main PrimEx page under "Beyond PrimEx".

Next Week's Meeting

Mike Wood will be organizing next week's weekly meeting.
