Update from Eric

Eric reviewed action in his analysis since his thesis was submitted. He gave two presentations. The first accounted for changes in his results in the period just before the thesis version. The second presented work done recently. Here the main items are:

  • Switched to log likelihood fitting method
  • Subtracted simulated, scaled omega background spectrum from pi0 candidate spectrum
  • Incorporated the latest inelastic tables from Tulio

In the discussion, Ashot mentioned that Sergey has a new calculation of the ??? background which includes rescattering.

PAC Presentation

There will be a dry run of Ashot's presentation on Monday.

The points that Ashot will emphasize in his presentation are:

  1. The physics is still important and timely.
  2. Our first measurement was done at the 3% level.
  3. We have gone as far as we can go with the data set in hand.
  4. Calibration reactions show we can measure an absolute cross section at the 1% level.
  5. Our understanding of the background physics processes resulting in the model dependence (mentioned in the theory TAC report) has improved a lot in the past few years.
