Collaboration with GlueX in Hall D: Ashot

There was a GlueX/Primex meeting on 06-19-08, attended by Ashot, Mark, Liping and Dan Dale. The focus of this meeting was a possibility of Hall D housing the Primex experiment for its 12 GeV program. Some of the issues discussed were: the upgrade of Hall D's forward calorimeter by inserting lead crystals in its central part, monitoring the photon beam which was not designed for cross section measurements, simulation of the backgrounds and others.

Details of the agenda and Ashot's slides can be found at the following link GlueX/Primex meeting. Next Gluex collaboration meeting will be held on September 2,08.

Resolution with 12 GeV ?

Eugene pointed out that the emittance of the high energy photon beam will be worse than it is for the 6 GeV beam (~order of magnitude), and raised the question whether the 12 GeV photon beam could provide angular resolution necessary for the planned measurements.

Paper Review

Update

  1. Detector: Liping and Dan will work on it in the summer. Liping needs analysis note from Liang. Some of his results need to be checked. there is an outline for this paper created by Misha Kubantsev, that needs to be circulated.
  2. Photon flux: Dan has started working on it
  3. Compton: Nothing new
  4. pi-zero: Nothing new

Next collaboration meeting

Sometime in early August

Special Meeting

Need to schedule a special meeting sometime in July, dedicated to discussion of how to correct for omega background in pi-zero analysis.

Next secretary

Dan Dale
