Announcement:

We are happy to announce the winners of the Third SURA Poster Competition for Graduate Students. The judges have conferred, and here are the results for the Poster Competition:

First Prize: Joe Katich (W&M)
Second Prize: Xiaohui Zhan (MIT)
Third Prize: Nate Baillie (W&M)

The judges for the Poster Competition were:

Stanley Brodsky — from SLAC, winner of 2007 Sakurai prize
Ani Aprahamian — from Notre Dame, and NSF
Karl Slifer — from UVA, Post-Doc representative to JLab UBoD
David Armstrong — from W&M, JLab User

There were lots of good posters, and so the decisions were not trivial. The first, second, and third-place awards were $1000, $500, and $250 respectively. The poster session occured on Monday evening, June 18th at the User Group Annual Meeting.

Posters were judged on:
1) The clarity with which the physics and its motivation are presented.
2) The clarity with which the student presents his or her contribution to the research.
3) The overall quality of presentation.

Congratulations to all the students on their impressive work.
