Working Agenda, Elizabeth Saucier, ALS
In preparation for our facilities administrators' meeting on October 20, I
wanted to confirm with those who will be attending and provide you with
the working agenda. Our meeting, including lunch, will be
held in Perseverance Hall within the Cafeteria, Bldg. 54
| 8:00-8:30 a.m. | Morning hospitality |
| 9:00-12:00 | Discussion topics and presentations. Administrative databases Communications |
| 12:00-1:30 | Lunch |
| 1:30-2:15 | ALS Tour (Fred Schlachter) |
| 2:15-3:45 | Discussion topic: Communications |
| 3:45-4:30 | Future meeting format & discussion topics Closeout |
My intent is to bring our meeting to a close before 4:30. I have arranged to have someone take minutes, in case you need to depart before we close. Please let me know if you have any questions and/or suggestions.
I have a head count of 18 participants from 9 facilities.
I ask that we keep the administrative databases presentations to 20 minutes
so that we can cover the other topics.
Let's do our presentations in this order.
Presentation materials. Please feel free to ship copies of viewgraphs in
advanced to me via express mail or e-mail. Staff will be available to make
copies for you after you arrive.
Here is the scoop about nearby lodging. We are trying to get
government rates at the Hotel Durant and also block some rooms for the
10/20 meeting. Prices for most of these hotels range from $80-150/night.
If you are driving, the Blackberry Canyon Gate will be the most convenient
entrance and where you will receive directions to the meeting and parking.
Getting to Berkeley Lab and the ALS. This site contains maps and detailed information about how to get around.
Since this is such a beautiful location with lots of places to explore, I recommend
renting a car. Taxi service from San Francisco or Oakland airports to Berkeley range
from $45-$60 for 1-5 persons. There will be no shuttle service directly from the
hotels to the Berkeley Lab. Buses run frequently from downtown Berkeley to the Lab, but
that can be time consuming. Please contact Elizabeth Saucier if you will need transportation.
If you need assistance at anytime after you arrive in the San Francisco area,
please feel free to call Elizabeth Saucier at home (510) 653-6050.
Gate clearance will be arranged for everyone attending the
October 20 meeting. Contact Elizabeth Saucier with the list of those who will be attending from your facility.
Berkeley Lab will host ALS Open House festivities for Saturday, October 18. Please note that no vehicles will be allowed on site that day except for shuttle buses.
