    Physics

    Currently, my main area of work is the study of the orbital motion of quarks and in particular the observation and interpretation of single-spin asymmetries (SSA) in electroproduction with polarized beam or target. The SSA are a new class of spin measurements providing access to new sets of parton distribution functions, including Generalized Parton Distributions, chiral-odd distribution functions (most prominent is transversity), time-reversal odd distribution (Sivers function) and fragmentation functions (Collins function). These observables are closely related to the transverse momentum distributions of quarks in the nucleon and orbital angular momentum of partons. This work is being done using the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) in Hall B at Jefferson Lab and HERMES detector at HERA.
