General information

My field of research is Hadronic Physics, i.e., the physics of protons, neutrons, and the like. In particular, the topic of my research work is the spin structure of hadrons.
We know that protons and neutrons are made of quarks and gluons but we are far from understanding their inner structure in a satisfactory way. One of the fundamental problems to be answered is: where does the spin of the hadrons come from? Answering this and similar questions is the ultimate goal of my research field.
  1. An overview of Hadronic Physics can be found in this e-print.
  2. An overview of Hadronic Spin Physics can be found in this review article.
  3. Nice and recent books about my field of research are "Spin in Particle Physics" by E. Leader, and "Transverse Spin Physics" by V. Barone and P. Ratcliffe for the specific case of transversity.
  4. A lot of information about spin physics has been gathered by the RIKEN BNL Spin Physics collaboration
  5. Experimental collaborations investigating hadronic spin are: HERMES at DESY, PHENIX and STAR at RHIC, COMPASS at CERN, CLAS at JLab.

My publications

Get all my publications from SLAC SPIRES.

Here is a copy of my Ph.D. dissertation. If you wish to have a hard copy, contact me.

Fun and multimedia

  1. The beautiful site "The Particle Adventure" offers a popular overview of particle physics for the general public.
  2. Other interesting sites for laymen can be found at this URL.
  3. Watch the movie "The mistery of quarks" (RealMedia, 9.5 Mb) and a movie of a quark smash-up (RealMedia, 111 Kb). These movies are done by Jefferson Lab.
