Due to security concerns, Windows vs. UNIX, and Explorer vs. Netscape idiosynchracies, access to a given web page at TJNAF isn't as simple as it used to be. In general, Windows pages work best from Internet Explorer, while UNIX pages work with most browsers.

Basically, there are 3 catigories of access:

• anybody anywhere can see it via the web server (usually the .access is set to allow it)

• only somebody inside the TJNAF network is allowed to see it via the web server (TJNAF only)

• only people who have the TJNAF common CUE filesystem mounted on their machine (TJNAF CUE only)
  Windows & Explorer - understands the CASA group to be at M:\casa\, while Netscape wants file:///M:/casa/

  UNIX & Netscape - expects the CASA group to be at /u/group/casa/.

  UNIX & Mozilla - expects the same as Netscape, but seems to often become confused - if the location is manually input, it works, but the link fails! (bug#13607)

For example, the last would include jlabs1, jlabh1, jlabl1, but exclude op03 and fel07. The 2^nd catagory would include almost all machines at Jlab and those phoning in to the Jlab modems, but not machines connected to the Cox network.
